What we do

UI Extension in Washington County brings unbiased, locally-relevant and research-based programs to its citizens. This allows the county to be globally competitive while also addressing local needs.

Farmers and ranchers benefit by learning how to increase productivity and ensure a safe, reliable food supply while also reducing environmental impacts. Youth benefit by participating in 4-H programs to develop confidence, leadership and life skills. After school and summer programs are offered to further educate youth. Programs in community development, water quality and horticulture benefit all county citizens.

UI Extension partners with the university’s research and academic faculty, staff and students to bring the latest and best to Washington County citizens.

Agriculture

UI Extension in Washington County offers a variety of agricultural information and educational opportunities. We have programs in small farms, animal science, forage, row crops, specialty crops, orchards and ranch management.

Forestry and Natural Resources

Rich agricultural lands, forests and rivers, both working and wild, make up many Idaho residents’ image of their state. UI Extension offers localized, research-based information to help residents protect air and water quality, manage family forests and accommodate a variety of uses, including recreation.
