UI Extension, Lewis County improves people’s lives by engaging the university and our communities through research-based education. Our areas of expertise include agriculture, community development, family and consumer sciences, natural resources, and youth development.

4-H Youth Development

4-H prepares young people ages 5 to 18 to step up to the challenges in their community and the world. 4-Hers get the hands-on, real-world experiences they need to become leaders.

Eat Smart Idaho
Eat Smart Idaho

The Eat Smart Idaho Program is a UI Extension education program designed to help limited-resource adults learn how to stretch their food dollars to provide tasty, low-cost, healthy meals for their families.

UI Extension, Lewis County provides education programs for Lewis and Idaho County farmers and agribusinesses, with a focus on cropping systems, pesticide education, and production management.

Farm Financial Management

Farm financial management education programs are offered to the five counties of north central Idaho. They cover topics such as estate planning, farm business succession, marketing, record keeping, financial analysis and management, which are all offered under the umbrella program “Targeting Financial Performance.”

The Farm & Forest Fair is a hands-on educational experience for area fifth graders. UI Extension cooperates with area agriculture and natural resource groups and agencies to present a guided tour of ten learning stations.
