What we do

UI Extension, Custer County provides research-based information to Custer County residents through educational programming in the following areas: animal science, range management, crop and forage production, farm and ranch management, 4-H youth development, homes and gardens, community development, and family and healthy living.

Livestock Production

Our office provides up-to-date, research-based information to clientele about livestock production. We address calls and conduct office and field visits on issues facing local livestock producers.

Range Management and Natural Resources

Our office provides information to ranchers, land managers and other clientele about the responsible use of Idaho’s rangelands, including hosting workshops on plant identification, rangeland monitoring, and rangeland management.

4-H
4-H Youth Development

4-H prepares young people ages 5 to 18 to step up to the challenges in their community and the world. 4-Hers get the hands-on, real-world experiences they need to become leaders. Click on this link for more information on the upcoming Custer County Fair.

Home Horticulture and Gardening

We offer limited services on assisting home gardeners with horticulture questions, including plant diagnostics, spider and bug identification, and soil testing for gardens.
